A broadcast is a certain message that is sent through Scratch, activating the receiving scripts.  You would use timing in a conversation generally because realistically a person needs time to process what is being said to him/her and respond accordingly.

Reflection On Make a Block

I would explain "make a block" by saying that it is a way to customize what your sprite does.  Aside from the given block on the website, the programmer can create a blog that includes many actions rather than having just one.  I might use "make a block" simply when I want to have my sprite do a certain action/task.

Debug it reflection

I used the trial and error process to solve the debugging.  The way that I would teach debugging is to use common sense.  If you think logically about what is occurring, then one can easily fix it.  If that method fails, trial and error is your best bet to find the issue in the code.   

debug it 1.5; move say "meow" and play sound "meow" in the repeat control block

Debug it 1.4; set rotation style motion command to left-right

debug it 1.3; add "wait_sec" between each rotation

debug it 1.2; adding the go to coordinates in the beginning

Reflection on ten blocks challenge

This challenge really helped me to use my own judgment during the making of the program.  I learned that the ten blocks on the page we not in any particular order.  So, I had to move them around so the sprite is position properly and does what I wish it to do.  The ten block restraint help me think outside the box which assists me in creating new ideas.

What was surprising?
I find it fascinating that there were so many options for movement of the sprite. You can do almost anything to the sprite.
